History & character
From the Stone Age to a Modern Market Town
Hörsching is a market town in Upper Austria, with a history dating back to the younger Stone Age. The favorable soil conditions and proximity to the Traun River facilitated early settlement in the area. Finds from various epochs, including burial fields and tools, attest to the continuous use of the area. In Roman times, Hörsching was significant as a garrison site, leaving archaeological traces that are still visible today. Over the centuries, the town first belonged to the Duchy of Bavaria and later to the Duchy of Austria. The construction of the military airfield in the 1930s and the associated population movements significantly shaped the development of the municipality. Today, Hörsching is a quiet market town with a total area of 19.9 km², characterized by agricultural use and wooded areas. Its proximity to the city of Linz and good transport connections make Hörsching an attractive place to live in the Linz region.

Real building heights (OpenStreetMap footprints with heights from the BEV laser scan), sun hours and shadows from sun position and geometry. How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Terrain is included, from the official elevation model out to 12 km: a mountain to the south takes the winter sun just as the house opposite does. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation.
