Parking & garage

Rent a garage in Salzburg.

In Salzburg’s old town and the resident parking zones around it, a fixed space is the only reliable answer to the parking question. We currently have 1 parking space from our providers’ feeds, at the prices actually asked.

What a space costs by district

There are too few offers for a table by district: that needs at least two in the same area. What we do have is listed below, at the price the provider asks.

What to check before you view

The price may be quoted net

Renting out parking space carries the full 20 per cent VAT in Austria, while residential rent is taxed at 10 per cent (WKO). On a space around 85 euros that is a 17 euro difference. Ask whether the figure quoted includes VAT.

The way there matters more than the distance

A space 300 metres away but across a main road is further in daily life than one 500 metres straight ahead. Every listing page shows the location in its neighbourhood, in walking minutes rather than straight-line distance.

Resident permit or your own space?

In the short-stay zone you may park for at most 180 minutes. Residents of a permit zone can get the Parkpickerl: 93 euros a year for municipal OR provincial roads in the zone, 186 euros for both. Since April 2026 it runs electronically via the number plate. Cheaper than a garage, but it does not provide a space of your own.

Frequently asked questions

What does a garage in Salzburg cost per month?

In our current inventory, monthly rents run from 74 to 74 euros, with 74 euros in the middle. Underground spaces in dense inner districts sit above that, open spaces and stacked parkers on the edge of town below.

Does Austrian rent law apply to a parking space?

That depends on the individual case and we deliberately do not give legal advice here. What is certain: a parking space contract follows different rules than a residential lease, among them notice periods and fixed terms. If you sign a long contract, have it looked at.

Why are some spaces so cheap?

The cheapest offers are almost always stacked parkers with a height limit or spaces on the edge of town. Both are real offers, just not for every car. The listing states what the provider declared.

Can I buy a space instead?

Yes, though the sales market is much smaller than the rental market. Use the "Buy" filter in the search to see what is currently for sale.
