History & character
From Settlement to Cultural Center
St. Florian, originally known as "Buch", developed over the centuries into a market town in the Upper Austrian central region. The town is particularly famous for the Stift Sankt Florian, where Anton Bruckner served as an organist and was laid to rest. Named after Saint Florian, the abbey is a significant cultural heritage of the region. In addition to the abbey, the hunting museum, the fire brigade museum, and the Sumerauerhof open-air museum are also noteworthy. Geographically, St. Florian is situated at an altitude of 296 meters and spans an area of 44.12 km², making it the largest municipality in the Linz-Land district. The gentle hilly landscape is characterized by agricultural land and forests, while numerous streams flow towards the Danube. Today, St. Florian offers a blend of rural charm and cultural diversity.

Real building heights (OpenStreetMap footprints with heights from the BEV laser scan), sun hours and shadows from sun position and geometry. How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Terrain is included, from the official elevation model out to 12 km: a mountain to the south takes the winter sun just as the house opposite does. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation.
