Official city hiking trail 6
City hiking trail 6: Ebelsberg & Weikerlsee
From the old village core through the Traun meadows to the lake.
The trail starts in the old core of Ebelsberg below the castle and runs through the Traun floodplain out to the Großer Weikerlsee. Water, riparian forest and wide meadows, with the solarCity living right next door: almost nowhere else in Linz do a grown village core, a new-build district and a bathing lake sit this close together.
Getting there: 2, N82, 11 to Linz/Donau Ebelsberg, 48 m to the trailhead. Way back from Linz/Donau Hillerstraße (2, N82, 11), 881 m.
The official route and its data
The coloured line is the official, signposted route of the series, as mapped in OpenStreetMap. Toggle a data layer, or tap anywhere on the map to see trees, noise, heat and travel times for that exact spot.

About 14 m of climbing and 19 m of descent, between 247 and 261 m above sea level. Sampled every 25 m from open elevation data; walking time uses the standard hiking formula (4 km/h plus 300 m of climb per hour).
For anyone weighing the green south-east: plenty of nature and water at the door, with the centre a fair way off. This trail lets you feel exactly that trade.
In summer the lake belongs to the bathers and the shore gets lively. In the meadows, by contrast, you walk almost alone most of the year.
What changes along the way
Every 200 metres of the trail, sampled against wohnwahn’s data. The curves run from the start (left) to the finish (right). In short: 100% green along the built-up stretches · along open water · 75% quiet · almost completely flat.
Values are 0 to 100 per 250 m residential cell. Forest and fields have no cells, so the profile honestly pauses there; curves only appear once they cover at least half the trail. Source: heat model from surface sealing, environmental noise map, green-space proximity, footfall and own transit routing.
