Bulgariplatz

History & character

From History to a Modern District

The Bulgariplatz district in Linz was established in 2014 and is named after the square of the same name located at the center of the area. The square was the site of the February uprising during the Austrian Civil War in 1934 and has borne the name of resistance fighter Anton Bulgari since 1946. The Bulgaridenkmal stands in the square, commemorating these events. The district includes parts of the cadastral municipalities of Lustenau and Waldegg and is bordered to the south by the Mühlkreis Autobahn. Today, Bulgariplatz is characterized by a blend of historical and modern elements. The Herz-Jesu Church, built between 1899 and 1903, along with the St. Barbara Cemetery, which houses the graves of many notable figures, shape the district's identity. The completion of the 'High-Five' Tower will mark the area with a modern architectural highlight.

How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Terrain is included, from the official elevation model out to 12 km: a mountain to the south takes the winter sun just as the house opposite does. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation.
