History & character

From Farmstead to Urban District

Bindermichl-Keferfeld is a district in the Upper Austrian capital Linz, located south of the city center. The district's name originates from the former farmstead Bindermichl and the field name Keferfeld. In 2014, the district was formed from the former statistical districts of Bindermichl, Keferfeld, and Bergern. Geographically, the district is bordered to the west by the Pyhrnbahn and to the east by the Mühlkreis Autobahn, while the Salzburger Straße marks the southern boundary. The majority of the district lies within the cadastral community of Waldegg, with the southern part in Kleinmünchen. Today, Bindermichl-Keferfeld offers a mix of residential areas and recreational opportunities, such as the Bindermichl-Spallerhof landscape park and several educational institutions. Additionally, the parish churches of St. Michael and St. Theresia shape the local character and reflect the cultural identity of the district.

Real building heights (OpenStreetMap footprints with heights from the BEV laser scan), sun hours and shadows from sun position and geometry. How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Terrain is included, from the official elevation model out to 12 km: a mountain to the south takes the winter sun just as the house opposite does. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation.
