Sistrans

History & character

From Ancient Settlements to Sistrans

Sistrans is a municipality with a long history that dates back to the 12th century BC, when urn graves with burial goods were discovered. In the 6th century AD, the Bavarians settled in the region, evidenced by row graves. The name Sistrans, first mentioned in a document in 1065, derives from the pre-Roman word *sisran-, meaning 'area with many streams'. Already in 1228, Sistrans is referred to as a 'village' in a donation document. In 1614, the municipality counted 25 households with 188 residents. In the 18th century, the church underwent significant renovations, and in 1891, Sistrans was established as its own parish. Today, the municipality has about 2300 residents and is characterized by a high percentage of academics at 23.1%.

Real building heights (OpenStreetMap footprints with heights from the BEV laser scan), sun hours and shadows from sun position and geometry. How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Terrain is included, from the official elevation model out to 12 km: a mountain to the south takes the winter sun just as the house opposite does. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation. In the Inn valley the winter sun reaches only 19 degrees at midday, while the mountain ridges to the south rise 10 to 19 degrees above the city. Measured for 21 December, the terrain costs just under two hours in Hötting, a good two in the city centre, close to three at Sieglanger and six and a half in Amras below the Patscherkofel.
