History & character
From Roman City to Modern Settlement
The area of today's Teufelhof has been inhabited since the Neolithic period and later developed into the Roman city of Aelium Cetium. This city was an important supply city in the province of Noricum and was abandoned in the 5th century. In the following centuries, the region was uninhabited until new settlements emerged in the early Middle Ages due to the political upheavals in Central Europe, particularly through the Frankish Empire. St. Pölten, to which Teufelhof belongs, likely received its name from a monastery founded in the 9th century. The city has since continuously developed and is now the largest city in Lower Austria with a rich history. Teufelhof is characterized by a quiet, suburban atmosphere and offers a pleasant living area that benefits from its proximity to nature and the urban infrastructure of St. Pölten.

Real building heights (OpenStreetMap footprints with heights from the BEV laser scan), sun hours and shadows from sun position and geometry. How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Terrain is included, from the official elevation model out to 12 km: a mountain to the south takes the winter sun just as the house opposite does. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation.
