History & character
From the Bronze Age to Wölbling Market Town
Wölbling has a long history that dates back to the Bronze Age, when a significant settlement existed west of Ratzersdorf. In antiquity, the area belonged to the Roman province of Noricum. The first documented mention of Burg Landersdorf dates back to 1115. It was later transformed into a Renaissance castle. The present market town of Wölbling was formed in 1967 by merging several previously independent municipalities, with the last incorporations occurring in 1968 and 1970. A place of remembrance of its turbulent history is the Oberwölbling Soldiers' Cemetery, which commemorates the battles of World War II. Today, Wölbling is a quiet market town in the Mostviertel, characterized by beautiful landscapes with forest and agricultural areas.

Real building heights (OpenStreetMap footprints with heights from the BEV laser scan), sun hours and shadows from sun position and geometry. How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Terrain is included, from the official elevation model out to 12 km: a mountain to the south takes the winter sun just as the house opposite does. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation.
