Where does Graz cool down when the basin heats up in summer?
Graz sits in a basin, and on hot days the official climatope map shows exactly one island in the middle of the city: the Schlossberg. The trail climbs the Kriegssteig stairway out of the tangle of lanes, passes the clock tower and the green plateau of the old fortress, and returns down the Hofratsstiege to Karmeliterplatz.
Getting there: 5, 3 to Graz Schloßbergplatz/Murinsel, 119 m to the start. Way back from Graz Freiheitsplatz/Schauspielhaus (30), 151 m.
