History & character
From Municipality to Modern Living Space
Seiersberg-Pirka was created on January 1, 2015, through the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Seiersberg and Pirka. Its geographical location, southwest of Graz, has led to the municipality merging with the capital city. The community is situated in the flat Graz Basin and is characterized by the Gepringbach and Doblbach rivers. The localities of Seiersberg, Neupirka, Neuwindorf, Pirka, Windorf, and Bischofegg make up the current municipality, which has a population of over 12,000.
Today, Seiersberg-Pirka is one of the wealthiest municipalities in Austria, largely thanks to its proximity to Graz and the establishment of the second-largest shopping center in the country, the Shopping City Seiersberg. Its favorable location and good public transport connections make the municipality an attractive place to live. In addition to its economic significance, Seiersberg-Pirka also offers recreational areas such as the Windorfer Teich, which has developed from a former clay pit, and various leisure activities in the surrounding area.
