History & character
From First Mention to Rebirth
Gerersdorf was first documented in 1040 under the name Gerolt. By 1150, the present-day places in the municipality had been founded. The municipality was established in 1850 from 15 cadastral communities and covered the area of the parish of Gerersdorf. Over the years, the community developed, with a variety of craftsmen and farmers residing there in 1938. In 1972, Gerersdorf was dissolved and divided between St. Pölten and Prinzersdorf, which met with resistance from the residents. A survey revealed that a majority favored the restoration of the municipality, which was finally achieved in 1981. The first mayor of the newly established municipality was Helmut Lechner. In 1985, Gerersdorf was granted its municipal coat of arms, and in 1996, the town celebrated its 1200th anniversary. Today, Gerersdorf is a small, quiet municipality in the Mostviertel, characterized by a rural environment and a strong sense of tradition and community.

Real building heights (OpenStreetMap footprints with heights from the BEV laser scan), sun hours and shadows from sun position and geometry. How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Terrain is included, from the official elevation model out to 12 km: a mountain to the south takes the winter sun just as the house opposite does. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation.
