History & character
From the Neolithic to a Market Town
Hafnerbach has a long history that dates back to the Neolithic period. Excavations provide evidence of dense settlement during the Urnfield culture. In the 8th century, Bavarians settled in the region. The first documented mention of Hauaenaerbach, today's Hafnerbach, occurred in 1210. The name derives from the potters living by the creek. The rule of the Montecuccoli played a significant role, with Prince Raimondo Montecuccoli becoming known through the Battle of Mogersdorf in 1664. The local church, dedicated to St. Zeno, is believed to have originated as a parish church as early as 1260. In 1938, Hafnerbach was characterized by a variety of craftsmen and traders, including bakers, butchers, and innkeepers.
Today, Hafnerbach is a market town with 1664 residents, featuring a rural atmosphere and a variety of agricultural land. The municipality is beautifully situated along the banks of the Pielach, surrounded by wooded areas, giving it a tranquil character.

How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation.
