History & character
From Agricultural Village to District of St. Pölten
Ratzersdorf an der Traisen was first mentioned in 1187 as Razinistorf, suggesting a village named after Razi. Archaeological findings during the construction of the Kremser Schnellstraße indicate that the area was settled as early as the 6th millennium BC. In the 19th century, Ober- and Unterratzersdorf were still two separate, agrarian villages located along the Poststraße, now known as Wiener Straße. The incorporation into St. Pölten took place in 1939, but the two cadastral communities regained independence in 1955. In 1972, Ratzersdorf became part of St. Pölten definitively, and in 1976 the cadastral communities were merged. Today, Ratzersdorf is a district of St. Pölten characterized by an industrial area at the entrance to the Kremser Schnellstraße. The infrastructure includes a primary school and a kindergarten, although their capacities are limited. Ratzersdorf combines rural charm with urban living, making it an attractive place to live.

How much of it reaches you also depends on orientation and windows. Terrain is included, from the official elevation model out to 12 km: a mountain to the south takes the winter sun just as the house opposite does. Where the sun only grazes a ridge, the figure remains an approximation.
