History & character
From Early Settlement to Modern Community
Wiener Neudorf has a long history that dates back to around 4000 BC. The first documented mention of the place is from the 12th century, when the village was known as Nowendorf. Over the centuries, Wiener Neudorf developed further, influenced by events such as the industrialization in the 19th century, characterized by brick production and the establishment of breweries. After World War II, the community underwent reconstruction and regained its independence in 1954. Today, Wiener Neudorf is a market municipality with around 9647 inhabitants, located east of Mödling in the Vienna Basin. The municipality consists of only one place and is characterized by a quiet suburban atmosphere. Its proximity to Vienna and existing infrastructure make Wiener Neudorf an attractive residential area for families and commuters.
