History & character
From Village to Modern District
Wulzendorf was a village near Aspern until the 16th century, first mentioned in writing in 1150. The name likely derives from the noble family von Wulzendorf. Over the centuries, the village disappeared, possibly due to natural disasters such as floods. Beginning in the 1920s, the area began to be populated, now known as the district of Wulzendorf. The first cooperative row house settlements were built based on designs by architect Wilhelm Baumgarten and today are part of the region's historical heritage. Even after World War II, numerous residential complexes were constructed here, shaping the character of the district.
